Goat Island Preserve is a county preserve of 348 acres along the Trinity River. This is another place where the trails are being maintained by DORBA volunteers. There are 9 miles of hiking and 7 miles of biking trails. The trail system appears to be a spine and loop system (where there is a central trail which all other trails come off of and return to).
Near Beltline road, you can see Lock and Dam #2, a remnant from an era (early 1900’s) when they tried to make the trinity river a navigable river all the way to the coast.
